1 Year Hearing Birthday
Happy Birthday Jamesey! Nope, not a birthday like you'd usually consider - this one is his hearing birthday. September 10 marks one year since the activation of his cochlear implants! And what a year it's been. I'm so thankful for the prayers and support that we've received and continue to embrace. We've been blessed with a phenomenal early intervention team and their encouragement and determination has been a difference maker for sure. At this point, Jamesey is 1 year old in terms of what he hears (although technically he's still at even more of a deficit since babies in utero take in sounds and process them but that's another detail). He is adding more and more sounds to his repertoire and will often chatter away for minutes on end. It's glorious to hear! He is responding to his name and will often turn at a sound - none of which would have been possible a year ago!
At this point he is making progress towards walking - we're working to develop his core strength but let me tell you that little man wants to walk! He's so close so stay tuned :)
Anna is back at pre-school after a summer at home with Mommy,Gran, Jamesey and her new brother. Let me tell you that little social butterfly missed her friends - and the learning! She's loving her brothers and adores any opportunity to wrestle or play outside. The other day she filled her sandbox with water because she wanted the water and the sand like at the ocean.
David is now 3 months old and he's so sweet. He's opinionated and stubborn - but let's be honest we all expected that given his parentage :) He adores watching Anna and Jamesey and it's often like he's taking in a tennis match since those two are rarely still.
Our house is rarely quiet with the beautiful babbles of Jamesey, the precocious chatter of Anna and the sweet coo's of Baby David. I love it and although at times I have to remind myself to embrace it, there really is no sweeter sound than all of them talking away.
We continue to solicit your prayers on behalf of our family as we keep teaching our children - please continue to lift up our teachers and therapists, our friends and family as they learn and grow with us on this journey. Thank you for the encouragement and love that you lavish on our family - we can't do this without you! Much love to you all!!
