What's Up

Well it's the day before Jamesey's birthday - Little Man is turning 4! Tonight as I rocked him to sleep he really wanted extra snuggles and I felt compelled to pray over him.  I have to admit, I'm terrible at remembering to pray over my children, but this time I had a good heart to heart with God.  There's a picture that haunts me from the day Jamesey was born.  It shows Anna meeting Jamesey for the first time and as I look at it there is both joy and pain.  The family in that picture had no idea the challenges that would be faced in the coming hours, days, weeks and years - but we also didn't know the happiness that we could experience.  He's a happy little man, he's a mostly healthy little man, and he's wonderful.

Unexpected

On Sunday we decided to make a trip over to Hershey Park and cool off at the water park.  Jer and Anna headed straight to the Reese's Cup ride to give that a whirl - proud to say our girl rocked the second highest score out of the four riders in the car (and no Jamesey and I weren't the other two in the car).  Little man and I headed on over to the Boardwalk to cool off and wait for them.  While we were there I was watching the crowd and had an unexpected encounter.  I noticed a girl who was sitting nearby and I was pretty sure that she had a cochlear implant.  Jamesey was asleep in the carrier   and so we ventured over to introduce ourselves.  We got to meet her mom and dad and learned that she was implanted at age 2.  She spoke so articulately - and is actually headed out to college in the fall and will be playing lacrosse! It was a wonderful encounter. The last couple of days have been such a mix of emotion as we face August 8 and Little Man'...

A New Year

Well 2014 was a year for sure.  Let's see - where to start: new job for Jer diagnosis of kleefstra and cochlear implant surgery for Jamesey 1 hospitalization and 1 near miss for Jamesey 1 discovery of Disney Kids channel for Anna Monkey (specifically Doc McStuffins, Jake and the Neverland pirates) 1 new love of  rollercoasters for Anna Monkey (she adored trailblazer at Hershey Park) we found out that another little baby to love is on the way - due May 26 new position for me at work Just a few things that are going on.  But 2015 is a new year, full of promise.  We're excited for Jamesey to really begin talking.  Christmas break heard the first really consistent mamamamama's from little man as well as a few dadada's.  His speech and hearing teachers are so encouraged and are so hopeful for him.  We feel blessed to have them in our lives for all the time that they invest in him and in us.  2015 will see renewed efforts with sign language (w...

It's Crazy...

It's crazy to think that we're looking at Week 39 and still waiting for David to arrive.  Recently I've noticed we've been so consumed with how James is proceeding that there hasn't been time to breathe - but now as David's arrival nears it's really hard not to ask a few "what if" questions.  There's a part of me that will hold my breath when David has his newborn hearing screen and as we wait for the results.  Then there is a part of me that says whatever the outcome we'll be okay.  I've shared with a few of you the perspective that Jamesey really is one in a million genetically and I keep repeating that to myself as a bit of a mantra on the occasions that I start to feel panicky - but our little man is wonderful and he reminds us of that frequently.
