Summer Lovin'
People have started talking about this crazy thing called "back to school" and my summer lovin' heart just isn't ready for it. We've been making the most of the minutes, the hours and the days. Dodging the heat with water play, visiting the library, reading, avoiding housework (sorry Jer - I'll get to that - maybe). It's been incredible and fun-filled and my heart starts to go into overdrive as the calendar gets ready to flip to August. Even though the heat doesn't go away and it's summer weather into September (sometimes October) - that calendar page turning is a daily reminder to me that we're heading into a new season (literally and figuratively). We'll say good-bye to Daddy's softball games, late evening swims, fireflies with their 'sparkly bums' (thank you David for that), bed-times and wake-ups will be a little more coordinated and for this girl who works hard to embrace change it'll be a challenge. But I'm determined that we're going to make the most of it - no dreading things because everything has a time and a place (even that ache in my heart).
We're going to tackle the missing points on the epic bucket list but we're also going to slow it down a bit. No sense going back tired! So now we're goal-setting for August -- things like finish the patio space, get all the laundry put away (LOL), finish back-to-school shopping before the first day of school, paint the curb-side piece that I just "had" to have (in my defense it's super cute -just needs some paint but now it's becoming a point to prove). We're going to Hersheypark a few more times, we might visit Inner Harbor, we definitely need to play in the creek some more. We'll have a few more playdates and grill out before that all gets relegated to the weekends because of school.
This fall ushers in new changes for our crew. We'll have two in school (Kindergarten and 3rd Grade) while D keeps having fun with his beloved Gran and sidekick Queenie (adorable beagle). I'm nervously praying about the adjustment - feel free to join me! :)
