Meet Elizabeth
Suffice to say 2020 has proven to be anything but predictable. From being able to share the news that we were expecting Elizabeth to pregnancy, work and education in a quarantine during a global pandemic - it has been an adventure. Want to have a good laugh? Settle in here for a story.
Maybe you've heard me share David's response to Elizabeth's due date - his birthday is May 25 and her due date was May 27. He thought about it for a bit and asked what month came next later communicating that he didn't want to share a birth month with her. And I have to admit - there was a part of me that hoped that would be true for him. But, anyway.
May 24th we had the opportunity to preserve some maternity memories with the incomparable Marisa Kinney Photography. If you haven't worked with her and you're booking pictures of a special occasion you absolutely need to contact her! She is an outstanding individual and just the MOST talented photographer. We wrapped up pictures and headed home to start birthday prep for David's quarantine birthday the next day and getting kiddos ready for bed and Memorial Day. 4 hours after pictures labor started (ish). Well, it seems that I may have been having a bit more of an adjustment coming to terms with life changing during quarantine because I needed to pack. While I was packing, I happened to notice that one corner of our bed had collapsed in due to Jamesey's bouncing (the kiddo gets some serious height - think Tigger) so while I was packing Jer broke out the wood glue, the drill and started fixing the bed frame. All the while we're acknowledging that D is going to be sharing his birthday. I'll gloss over the birth story suffice to say E took her time from 9 p.m. on the 24th until 2:30 p.m. on the 25th - at 2:30 p.m. she decided enough lollygagging and graced us with her arrival at 2:44 p.m. She's absolutely a dream of a baby by the way.
It's been an adventure along the way as we've settled into life as a family of 6. Jamesey isn't sure what he thinks of her. D is falling in love with her while Anna has been absolutely fixated from day 1. We've had a few fun escapades as we adjust to one more person needing attention. Let's see if I can share a few highlights - working backwards - Jer thought he broke his foot after he fell off a ladder (but he didn't thank goodness), Jamesey navigated his way out of the bath only to throw a boatload of paper products into the tub that then had to be fished out and disposed of, our basement flooded during the weirdest weather ever, we've found Jamesey sitting in the pack and play eating cheese-its, or pushing furniture so that he can climb to new heights (proud but scary moments). Not to mention the debates that keep ensuing regarding who knows more words (Anna or David) face palm. Jeremy decided to see how far he could fall from a ladder without doing real damage and
While it's been an adventure it's also been a time of tremendous blessing and we have been so incredibly moved and grateful for the ways that our community has loved on us. From meals to virtual and drive by baby sprinkles to check-in text messages and all the prayers and encouragement coffees you all have made it so evident that we are surrounded by extra special people. We look forward to sharing the care forward and backwards. :) We love you!
