Weekly Roundup

I'm sure you're wondering how Wednesday, Thursday and Friday worked out on Lisburn Rd.  Suffice to say, we're exercising our senses of humor in addition to exercising our bodies outside in the beautiful weather! Yesterday's 75 degrees proved to be a glorious reminder that Summer will return.

Let's see what's been happening - memory lapses from not enough coffee (LOL), we've been reading, and Anna is learning how to braid her hair and she's pretty excited about that.  There has been baking, TV watching for a few people, all kinds of water play, increased laundry because of the water play (haha), we've colored, we've painted, the Legos are out in full force and seem to be multiplying.  The list of house projects has grown and the Quarantine Bucket List has been created.  I've lost track of the volume of coffee consumed but have been relieved that the creamer supply at our local grocery store remains plentiful (fingers crossed) - but found a creamer recipe to try making.

It's been interesting for me to attempt to keep people engaged on a variety of levels of interest and ability and it feels like shifting sands.  I'm thankful for the layout of our home and that it's layout allows me to monitor everyone's actions a bit but still give some space.  On the whole, everyone has been adjusting.  Anna has expressed that she misses her friends and her teachers.  David shared that he misses Miss Katy at his 'school' (Sunday school) and has been asking for the song "My Lighthouse".  Oh, before you get too impressed with his song selection let me tell you he likes nothing better than to ask Alexa to play "Who Let the Dogs Out" (Joy shakes her head).  Between that and the requests for Taylor Swift, Call Me Maybe, The Super Mario Theme Song, The Transformers Theme Song, Music by Alvin and the Chipmunks - when we get the requests for the Lighthouse song it's appreciated!

Jamesey seems to be settling into this extended break.  We keep working on school skills with him but I'm sad that the amazing progress he was making at school may slow down.  I'm hopeful that he'll be back in his classroom before the conclusion of the year, but we'll wait and see.  In the meantime we keep going and we keep you all in our prayers as well.
